In keeping with the vision of Our Lady of Grace Preschool the signature programs at our preschool are designed to promote active and engaged learning through faith, discovery, collaboration, and service. Two key programs that help us recognize this vision are the InvestiGator Club Curriculum, and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
InvestiGator Club Curriculum
Our Lady of Grace Preschool is proud to be utilizing the InvestiGator Club Curriculum PreK with STEAM to offer a culturally rich, fully integrated PreK curriculum that focuses on STEM, early literacy, the arts, and social and emotional development. The program uses engaging stories, charming characters, and children's own curiosity to motivate them to think, solve problems, communicate, and investigate their world. The InvestiGator Club Curriculum is the only MSDE recommended curriculum fully aligned in every category of the Maryland Framework for 3 to 5-year-old preschool students.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Once a week the children of OLGPS gather in a room specially prepared for them, called an atrium, which contains simple yet beautiful materials that they use to draw nearer to God. In the early church, the atrium was the place where the catechumens were prepared. For the child, the atrium is a place of preparation for involvement in the larger worshipping community.
In an atrium the child can ponder a biblical passage or a prayer by taking the material for that text and working with it – placing wood figures of sheep in a sheepfold of the Good Shepherd or setting sculpted apostles around a Last Supper table.
